“World Tourism”: Dahshur and Siwa among the best tourist villages in 2023

The World Tourism Organization announced the best tourist villages for the year 2023 and chose 54 tourist villages from the 260 villages that nominated themselves, including Dahshur and Siwa. St. Catherine was chosen this year to participate in a promotional program, within the framework of the twenty-fifth General Assembly, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, during the period October 16-20.
Five communities in Peru received this prestigious award, which is presented to villages that distinguish themselves through their commitment to sustainability in all its aspects – economic, social and environmental.
Community tourism is a catalyst for development, especially in rural areas, and by highlighting the best examples, the World Tourism Organization hopes to encourage tourists to spend time and money in places that are not tourist popular, despite having all the potential .
Nearly 260 villages have applied for the Best Tourism Villages of 2023, competing in categories such as cultural and natural resources, social and environmental sustainability, infrastructure and connectivity, and health, safety and security.
The 54 winners stand out for their appeal to tourists, but also because they use this interest to create jobs, empower vulnerable groups, fund heritage and environmental conservation and ensure that their villages are attractive places for locals to live. live, work and relax.
